About Rix Farms

Rix Farms was started by Peter (PG) and Jean Rix in 1951. Now in its 3rd generation of Rix family the farm has specialised in onion and potato production.

In 1995, Stourgarden Ltd was established to facilitate the grading and packaging of onions for direct supply to retail customers.

Both Rix Farms and Stourgarden operate on the same site in Great Horkesley, Colchester. This proximity enables us to collaborate closely, optimizing efficiency throughout the supply chain.

Our facilities include workshops, purpose-built agricultural machinery stores and temperature-controlled box stores. We also house a state-of-the-art packhouse and onion preparation factory, allowing us to oversee the entire growing and production process from field to store shelf. By maintaining control over the entire production chain, we ensure the delivery of top-quality products to consumers.

Together, Rix Farms and Stourgarden represent a unique entity in the UK, integrating three essential components of the onion supply chain: cultivation, processing, and packaging.
