What is Open Farm Sunday?
“Open Farm Sunday, managed by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), is one of the farming industry’s biggest success stories. Since the first Open Farm Sunday in 2006, over 2000 farmers across Britain have opened their gates and welcomed over 3.25 million people onto farms for farming's annual open day.
It is a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old, to discover at firsthand what it means to be a farmer and the fabulous work they do producing our food, nurturing and all the goods and services farmers provide.
Each event is unique based around the farm’s individual story. Activities during the day may include a farm walk, nature trail, tractor and trailer rides, demonstrations, pond dipping, activities for children, a mini farmers market or farm shop.”

OFS 2025
As a farm we hosted our first Open Farm Sunday in 2025. We had over 900 visitors from the local community which totally surpassed all our expectations! It was a fantastic day, involving the whole team. There was a tractor and trailer ride, potato digging, mini-fields, a farm trail to follow and plenty of machinery on display. It was a great way to share the farming journey and our story with everyone. We loved meeting you all and seeing the enthusiasm for what we do. It was great to be able to answer questions and share our beautiful countryside with you all.
We have decided to host a large event like this every other year – to maintain engagement and keep everything exciting we want to be able to give it our full attention. It was a lot of hard work in the run up, with us all putting in extra hours to get it all ready alongside growing the crops, so by keeping it biennial it will keep it fun, interesting and our enthusiasm high. We can’t wait to see you in 2027!
OFS 2026
We have decided on the years off from a large event that we will host smaller guided tours of our main farm yard. We thought this would be a great way to show you the inner workings – along with the places you can’t see at a large event. This will include a tour of the stores, machinery sheds and workshop, followed by refreshments. There will be more of a chance to ask questions and take a look at our farm in a bit more depth.
The tours will host up to 20 people at a time and last 1.5 hours. To book on for free, simply register at the link below.

CHRISTMAS TRACTOR LIGHTS RUN 2026
New this year! We are going to host our very first Christmas Tractor Lights Run – this will involve our tractors being wonderfully decorated and adorned with as many lights as possible by their drivers and driven from our farm yard around the local villages. It will be a great chance to get in the festive spirit and celebrate the beautiful countryside we live in. The route will be pre-decided, with stopping places in local villages so that you can come and see the tractors in all their glory. We will finish at our farm in Langham so that you can come and see the tractors up close and join us for festive refreshments.
We are holding this in aid of (to be decided)
If you would like to participate and bring a decorated lit up tractor to join the parade, please email office@rixfarms.co.uk. It is a £20 donation to our given charity per tractor to join in, so please decorate your tractor and join in the fun!
We will publish the route and times for people to come out and see us all. Watch this space!
